Cardinham Parish Council backed more Air Shows.
CPC Unlawfully Supported an Application by Cornwall Flying Club  to relax a Planning Condition

The Condition was imposed by the Secretary of State to protect residents.
It means the Flying Club has to apply for permission for each air show etc.
It has worked well for nearly 40 years.  Why change it now?

But the Feb. 2011 CPC meeting supported the application - on your behalf!
And CPC's decision to support was unlawful because: -
It was not on the February Agenda so no lawful decision could be made

And it gets worse.
        CPC supported it,
knowing parishioners had not been consulted, and knew nothing of it   -
The Application hadn't even been advertised in the Cornish Guardian at that time.
Incredibly, CPC support was nearly unanimous.  Only Cllr Mike Frost voted against.

And it gets even worse: -
       - Those same CPC Councillors had opposed a similar application in 2003.
And knew that many Cardinham, Blisland and Helland residents, as well as the then CC and
NCDC Councillor, David Miller, and NCDC's Environmental Health Officer, opposed it.
In fact, there was so much  opposition, that the Flying Club withdrew that Application.

And its worse again: -
-This time, Cornwall Council Planners didn't consult Blisland and Helland Parish Councils.
Yet the Airfield is on the Cardinham /Blisland boundary
     - Do planners realise that sometimes planes fly over other Parishes?

CPC's support carried considerable weight because it pre-empted the predictable public concern and opposition to such an Application.
Yet CPC's support had neither integrity nor legallity.

It is fortunate that Cllr Mick Martin was able to engage in dialogue with the Mr Mark Taylor of the Flying Club, and, acknowledging the widespread public concern that existed, reach agreement that the Application be withdrawn.  Our thanks to both of them.

Consultation response from Jason Drew of C.C.'s Environmental Protection
: -
"E. P. have no powers in relation to noise from aircraft "
He suggests contacting the Civil Aviation Authority.   We all know how much good that will do!

For the future, it is important that CPC does not presume to speak for the Parish on any contentious matter, without first properly consulting it.
